# install

> get miniti on macos or ios

    ## requirements

    * macos 14.2 (sonoma) or later
    * apple silicon or intel mac

    ## steps

    1. download the dmg from [miniti.app](https://miniti.app)
    2. open the dmg and drag `miniti.app` to your **applications** folder
    3. launch from applications - the app is signed and notarized

    ## first launch

    the first time you record, miniti will ask for microphone and system audio recording permission. see [permissions](/docs/get-started/permissions) for what to expect.

    ## updates

    from v1.24.1, miniti has an in-app auto-updater. new versions are fetched and installed from inside the app. if an update is available, you'll see a prompt; accept it and the app relaunches on the new version. users on an affected updater build may need to download and install the latest dmg manually once; after that, in-app updates should work normally again.

    ## steps

    1. open [miniti on the app store](https://apps.apple.com/app/miniti/id6759067308) on your iphone or ipad (or search for **miniti** in the app store)
    2. tap **get** or **install**

    ## first launch

    the first time you record, ios will ask for microphone permission. background recording and live activity (dynamic island + lock screen) are enabled by default.
