# google calendar

> upcoming meetings, meeting reminders, auto start/stop, attendee context, auto attio sync

connect your google calendar to see upcoming meetings and streamline recording. available on **macos and ios**.

## what it does

* **upcoming meetings** - shows your next events on the home screen
* **meeting reminders** - a local notification fires \~60 seconds before each calendar event so you don't miss the start
* **auto-start** - counts down and starts recording when a meeting begins (configurable)
* **auto-stop** - shortens the silence timeout after a calendar event ends, so recording stops sooner when the meeting is over
* **attendee context** - passes meeting attendees to ai insights for better speaker attribution and analysis. attendee names are also used as **hints for [automatic speaker naming](/docs/features/speaker-names)** - the model prefers them over guesses when the conversation matches.
* **transcription boost** - when a meeting is started from or linked to a calendar event, the title and attendee display names (plus non-consumer email domains) help live transcription recognize people and company names. see [transcription](/docs/features/transcription).
* **auto attio sync** (macos) - automatically sends meeting summaries to attio after saving, if attendees match an attio record

## setup

1. open **settings** (macos: `⌘,` / ios: settings tab) → **integrations** → **google calendar**
2. toggle on **enable google calendar**
3. tap **connect** and sign in with your google account
4. configure auto-start, auto-stop, reminders, and (macos) auto attio sync toggles as needed

if you haven't connected yet, a **google calendar card** appears on the home screen (macos and ios, from v1.24.1) with a one-tap shortcut into the connect flow. the card disappears once calendar is connected, and can be dismissed if you'd rather not connect.

meeting reminders and nudges both live under **settings → notifications** - you'll be prompted to grant notification permission the first time you enable one.

## permissions

miniti uses **read-only** calendar access. it never creates, modifies, or deletes events.

## behavior

* calendar events refresh every 5 minutes
* **meeting reminder** - fires as a local notification \~60s before the event starts
* **auto-start (macos)** - a countdown banner appears in-app; if you do nothing, recording starts at the event time
* **auto-start (ios)** - the countdown only runs while miniti is in the foreground. if the app is backgrounded or the phone is locked, the reminder notification is what prompts you to open miniti and start recording
* dismissed events are tracked so they don't prompt again
* attendee emails are passed to the insights model as context - they improve speaker naming and analysis

## disconnect

settings → integrations → google calendar → disconnect. tokens are deleted server-side, and any pending meeting reminders and auto-start countdowns clear immediately.
