from v3.1.0 the miniti app on your iphone comes with an apple watch app. tap record on the watch, talk, tap stop. the audio moves to your iphone when the two are in range, gets transcribed with speaker labels, and the meeting shows up in history with a summary like any other. it needs watchos 10 or later and the miniti iphone app from 3.1.0. the watch app installs with the iphone app; if it is missing, open the watch app on the iphone and install miniti from the list.

record

  1. open miniti on the watch
  2. tap record. the first time, allow the microphone
  3. talk. the timer and the level bar show it is recording. you can lower your wrist; recording continues in the background
  4. tap stop

what happens next

swipe up on the watch to the queue page. each recording shows its state:
  • sending - the audio is moving to your iphone. it is written in 5 minute pieces, and pieces move while you are still recording, so a long meeting is mostly across by the time you stop
  • on your iphone - the iphone has every piece. the watch deletes its copy at this point
  • transcribing - the iphone is sending the audio to deepgram
  • ready - the meeting is saved on the iphone. the row disappears
  • waiting for minutes - your monthly minutes are used up. the recording waits on the iphone and goes through after the reset or an upgrade; nothing is thrown away
  • failed - something went wrong on the iphone. the message says what. open the iphone app and tap try again on the row
on the iphone, history shows a from your watch section while a recording is in progress, with the same states and a try again button. swipe a row to remove a recording you no longer want. the iphone needs to have been opened at least once after the files arrive; it does not transcribe while it has never been in the foreground. opening it is enough; you can lock the phone again.

what you get

  • a meeting with the transcript, speaker labels (speaker 1, speaker 2, and so on, rename them as usual), a title, summary, action items and questions
  • imported from apple watch in the meeting detail
  • the meeting syncs through cloud sync if that is on, and exports and webhooks work as for any meeting
coaching numbers are computed from the transcript as usual. there is no live transcript on the watch, no live insights, and no calendar on the watch in this version.

minutes and modes

  • managed free and pro: the length of the recording counts against your minutes, once, when it is transcribed. a recording that is too long for the minutes you have left waits rather than being cut
  • byok: the deepgram key on the iphone is used, no minutes
  • private mode: watch recordings are transcribed by deepgram, so the iphone refuses them while private mode is on and says so in history. turn it off and tap try again

audio and privacy

the watch writes the audio to its own storage while you record. it is sent to the iphone over the paired connection (bluetooth or wi-fi), never over the internet, and deleted from the watch once the iphone confirms it has every piece. the iphone keeps the file until the transcript exists, then deletes it. the audio goes to deepgram once, as a file, and is never stored on miniti’s servers. see the privacy policy.

if a recording is stuck on sending

  • open the watch app. it resends anything the iphone has not confirmed every time it opens
  • make sure the iphone app has been opened once since the files arrived
  • bring the two within bluetooth range, or on the same wi-fi
  • send again at the bottom of the queue page forces another attempt

what the watch cannot do yet

complications, starting from a calendar event, pause and resume, a live transcript on the wrist, cellular uploads and a watch without a paired iphone are not in this version.
