from v2.6.0 your miniti account is an anonymous recovery key. there is no email and no password. the key looks like this:
only you hold it. miniti cannot look it up or reset it for you.
the account is used in managed mode (free and pro). byok mode talks to your own deepgram and openai accounts and does not need one.
pro follows the account (v2.8.0): buy pro on one device and every device on the same account is pro. the device that bought it keeps the subscription, so manage or cancel it from that device (polar customer portal on a mac, app store subscriptions on iphone or ipad); on the other devices, settings → account & plan says “pro comes from another device on your account”. a polar subscription covers macs, iphones, ipads, and linux; an app store subscription covers iphones and ipads. the recovery key itself is not a license key; a mac with no account can still restore pro with its polar license key.
existing installs
if you were already using miniti before v2.6.0, the app creates an account for this device on first launch. your plan, usage, and meeting history are unchanged. a one-time card on home asks you to save the key: choose show key, copy it into your password manager, and confirm. not now hides the card until next time.
new installs
first-run setup creates an account automatically. if you already use miniti on another device, choose already use miniti on another device? restore with your recovery key during setup instead, so the new device joins the same account.
settings → account & plan
- recovery key - reveal shows the key after a confirmation, since anyone who sees it can add devices to your account. rotate generates a new key; the old one stops working immediately and your devices stay signed in. save the new key
- devices - every device on the account, with platform, app version, and when it was last seen. an account holds up to five devices. remove signs another device out; it needs the recovery key to sign back in
- sign out this device - this device needs the recovery key to use managed mode again. meetings stored on it are not affected
- delete account - every device loses access and the recovery key stops working. this does not cancel a pro subscription - manage that in the app store or the polar customer portal first. meetings stored on your devices are not deleted
- restore with recovery key - shown when this device has no account, to join an existing one
- move this device to another account (v2.8.0) - enter the other account’s recovery key. this device keeps its meetings, usage, calendar, and crm connections and takes that account’s plan; it leaves its current account, and if that account is then empty it is closed. a move is refused when the account is full (five devices) or when both this device and that account already hold a subscription on the same platform
adding a device
- on a device that is already signed in, open settings → account & plan and reveal the key
- on the new mac, iphone, ipad, or linux machine, choose restore with recovery key during setup or in settings → account & plan
- enter the key. it starts with
M1 and has eight groups of four characters
the new device joins the account. if the account has a pro subscription, the new device is pro as well. meetings do not sync between devices, and free minutes are still metered per device. see tiers.
if you lose the key
without the recovery key you cannot add another device or come back after a wipe or reinstall. devices that are already signed in keep working. if one of them is still signed in, open settings → account & plan on it and rotate the key, then save the new one.
privacy
each device holds its own private key in the keychain (protected by the secure enclave where available) and signs its requests to miniti’s servers with it. the recovery key is shown only on the save-it card, the reveal control in settings, and the restore field.
